Are we eating healthier? A new study suggests, yes.
Americans are drinking less sodas and sugary drinks while eating more whole grains, nuts, and seeds. However, the study (published in the Journal of the American Medical Association) found that people still consume way too much sugar and processed food while not eating enough whole fruits and vegetables.
From 1999 to 2012, researchers examined looked at the trends in eating habits for almost 34,000 adults aged 20 or older that had participated in seven nationally representative surveys.
